Social Realism Actors

The genre of social realism is not a mass genre like action or romance and because of that it lacks the publicity so many big names or still unheard of within the majority audience, however some names do become big and largely so for those who star within the Social Realisms like Trainspotting which made a huge impact in not only fans of the genre but also to main blockbuster fans.

Some of the most well known actors in the genre are:

 Ewan McGregor

- Ewan started his career in small Social Realisms such as Shallow Grave and Blue Juice but after his success in Trainspotting his career took a huge turn and he started playing main characters in what were set to become main stream films such as the early Star wars films in the late 1990's and in recent years he has taken roles in huge films such as Jack the Giant Slayer

Paddy Considine

-  Another way many actors in Social Realisms become known is through working with directors or other actors with a well known name such as Paddy Considine who worked in many films directed by Shane Meadows, Considine stared making "shorts" with Meadows which quickly grew to full length films which got him attention from other director. Paddy Considine's biggest hit that really shot him up in the industry was Dead Man's Shoes.

Possible audience Analysis

We are planning on filming our film trailer as a Social Realistic Thriller but in doing so we have a somewhat limited audience as although we hoped many would be attracted to the film, some may be turned off by its social realism aspect.


However we aimed our film at young adults (Being 18 to 25) as that is the age range of characters in our film. This is a good example of a member of our Target Audience

Occupation = Store Clerk

Hobbies = Music, Skateboarding and Gaming

Likes = His cat "Munchies", Pizza, Rock Music and Football

Dislikes = Rain, Maths and practical jokes

Why would we aim our film trailer at this audience?


This target audience would be people between the ages of 18 and 25, we predict this as people such as Dan Messenger could relate physically and mentally to the characters of "Old Habits Die Hard" and may even relate to some of the issues raised during the films plot, because they can relate we would aim our Trailer, poster and magazine articles towards them.


How would they view or marketing methods?



We feel that due to the age and income of our possible audience it would make most sense to promote our film within their easy reach, we could do this through social media and other internet based sites like "YouTube". Another place we could put our Advertisement is within town centres or near Universities or Upper schools.
