First Analysis Of Magazine Covers
Magazine Cover 1
(Gandalf)
The first thing that jumped out out me was the contrast of colours, with the monotone greys and browns that "Gandalf" wears it really stands out from the red of the magazine title (Empire) as well as the reds and green of the background.
Another thing that made me notice this cover was "Gandalf" himself, being one of the most famous characters of The Lord Of The Rings it quickly catches any fans eye and even people who are not fans know his face.
After seeing the contrast of "Gandalf" the white text advertising the films title and more on the magazine. Its placed in the darker bottom right corner of the page which makes the white seem brighter. Once attracted to the white text the bold tagline "THE ULTIMATE ISSUE" really stands out.
Magazine cover 2
The Hulk
First off when I looked at this magazine cover the big green face coming through the grey wall really stood out, it i its self is a commonly used image from the "Hulk" comics which also gets used in the movies an TV shows. It quickly allows the viewer to identify is it about the hulk.
The second thing I noticed was the text, mainly, the title being split by the force of the "Hulk". The title was really bold and the red contrasted well with the green and dark grey. The text "THE HULK UNLEASHED" used contrasting white and green so all eyes were drawn to the "Hulk" rather than reading the whole title.
Magazine Cover 3
Jack Sparrow
The clearest thing on this magazine cover is the background, the bright, almost fiery, sunset shadows the character which caught my eye because, in my opinion, it is unusual. the dark title and character made me closely examine the cover.
One thing i noticed on this poster is it didn't use a bold clear title like other cover but instead used "Captain Jack Sparrows" to sell the film, which clearly shows they were trying to attract fans of the film or the cast.
The bright white tag lines down the bottom of the screen, "TO STEAL SUMMER IN PIRATES 2: DEAD MAN'S CHEST" stood out to me more than the title "Jack's Back" which was hidden by the sunsets brightness.
Film Cover 4
The Terminator
As a fan of Terminator films when I could see the large metal face it instantly caught my eye the while looking at the image i noticed.... "AMAZING FLASHING COVER!" when looking through magazine covers that was what drew my attention the most, the use of lighting the terminators eyes really attracted me to this cover as it was unique. The glowing red eyes also matched the overall theme of the cover which while standing out made it fit.
