Consistancy Of Film Posters Part 2

After Earth

The second film I will be analysing in this task is "After Earth" which is a SCI-FI film based on earth far in the future.
Set 1000 years after an environmental cataclysm forces the human race to abandon Earth, "After Earth" flows the son (Jaden Smith) of a hero (Will Smith) as he crash lands onto earth during training to become a "Ghost", humans with the ability to block fear. The crash leaves the farther injured
and his son has to brave the deadly carnivores to find help to save them.

The Consistency

Both the trailer and the poster have many consistencies including their use of text and lighting. The primary image is of Kitai (Jaden) stood in front of his farther amongst the ruins of earth, this clearly ties the locations together and with the eerie dark location it copies lot of the films style.
The use of text in the trailer and poster contain the same message by using the same font, it suggests a futuristic plot.

Portrayal of the genre

The poster and trailer both have a heavy use of dark lighting such as dark forested areas or the inside of caves, this clearly shows the thriller side as it seems like something could be hiding in the shadows. Because of the location and the devastation lefts its obvious that they are on a futuristic earth which gives way to the SCI-FI genre.

Portrayal of the plot

Through the poster the plot is thin and only the basic can be understood, basics such as main characters (Jaden & Will), location is earth and its set after some kind of event However the trailer explains the plot in a lot more detail as it uses dialogue and clip sequences that explain the story better.
