Empire Magazine Cover Analysis
In this post I will be analysing the Empire magazine cover for Iron Man 2
Target Audience
From looking at not only the cover picture but also the style and type of magazine "Empire" is, it's fair to say that they are aiming this magazine at not only existing "Empire" buyers but also fans of Iron Man, from that I would say Males between the ages of 16 to 25.
Masthead (Magazine Name)
In this issue of "Empire" they have altered the colour of the masthead, which is usually red, to a electric blue and by doing this it ties in to the "Iron Man Suit" as well as the main villains weapon. Not only does this visually attract customers because of its contrast to the dark background but it also attracts those with knowledge of the film.
Primary / Main Image
For this issue the main image is "Iron Man", the positioning, stance and size of the suit all connote to power and this is meant to intimidate the viewer however the fact the suit is the only large image on the cover means that it is the main article and would be the selling point.
Buzz Words
A buzz word is a word which attracts people to the magazine or advertises its benefits, on this cover the buzz words such as "Ultimate", PLUS!" and "Amazing" are bold and clear to attract customers to the magazine.
Head line
The headline for this cover is placed just below center making it very eye catching due to the glowing light above it, the text is capitalized so that it stands out and the coloring differs it from the rest of the cover. This would help to appeal to its audience because of it professional style.
